WHAT READERS ARE SAYING
"
Alexander Le’s prose is completely unique. Using thermodynamics, engineering logbooks, and geometric precision to articulate the agonizing subtext of a closeted military romance in 1991 is brilliant. The emotional payoff of the cassette tapes—the literal 'solving for the hiss'—is incredibly poignant. Watching Alex reclaim his self-worth in the engine room and Patrick intentionally shift his posture to reject his father’s ordained path was magnificent. A beautiful, intense sequel.
JAMES T., BOOK LOVERS REVIEW
"
This book is a triumph of loyalty and survival. Alex's isolation as a 'Majority of One' back at the Academy while Patrick is exiled to a salvage ship in the Western Pacific is portrayed with crushing, poignant realism. The salt-stained, grease-blackened letters Patrick sends from the bilges broke my heart. But it's the unwavering commitment—the literal signing of the active-duty bond side-by-side—that proves their 'Sovereign State' is bulletproof. Le writes MM intimacy with a fierce, possessive intensity that sets a whole new standard.
SARAH L., READERS' CHOICE
"
I am completely blown away. The sheer technical authenticity of the submarine setting makes the closet feel like an actual pressure hull ready to buckle at any second. Alex and Patrick’s breakup broke me, but watching James swoop in with that unhurried, daylight certainty was everything I didn't know I needed. The verbal and emotional power dynamics in the second half of the book are incredibly complex and beautifully executed. An absolute must-read!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Alexander Le brings a lifetime of service, grit, and hard-won perspective to the page. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he began his career as a Line Officer in the Navy’s "Silent Service," where he completed the military's most rigorous pipelines to earn his Submarine Warfare Insignia. Following his tenure in the submarine force, he transitioned into the JAG Corps after graduating from Harvard Law School.
His understanding of military life was forged through decades of duty navigating the high-stakes landscape of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" era. Serving an institution with distinction while managing the personal maneuvers required of a gay officer provides the emotional and structural bedrock for his premier five-book series, A City of Two.
These stories act as a long-awaited tribute to those who served in the shadows, navigating forbidden relationships while honoring their duty. They represent an intimate reflection of the life Alexander lived and serve as a testament to those forced to serve in the dark.
These books are written for anyone who understands that love doesn't have to be loud to be revolutionary, only real. By blending the technical precision of his submarine service with the legal and moral weight of his JAG career, Alexander grounds this journey in the "behind-the-curtain" realities of the service, highlighting both the making of an officer and the resilience of the human spirit.
Now working in finance compliance and intellectual property law, Alexander resides in Silicon Valley with his husband. Through his writing, he bridges the gap between his military heritage and his storytelling, crafting the high-stakes fiction he was born to tell. He writes for those who understand that in the military, the most dangerous variables are often the ones you cannot name.
